Legacies

Writing a will can offer great peace of mind, especially regarding the security and wellbeing of loved ones. For many people, this includes doing something to make the world a better place. If Oxfordshire’s landscapes and wildlife have been an important part of your life, leaving a legacy to TOE could be the right choice for you.

TOE exists to protect and enhance the local natural environment, at a time when it faces unprecedented threats. We’ll use your gift to ensure your family, friends and and many others besides can keep enjoying Oxfordshire’s great natural beauty for many years to come.

Further information

Legacies represent around a quarter of all charities' income, but of those people who say they would like to leave a gift to charity, only a small percentage actually go on to do it. Please consider taking that extra step.

First, choose the type of legacy you’d like to give:

  1. A share of your estate (Residuary Legacy): A percentage of your estate after all other gifts and expenses have been paid. These gifts have the benefit that they tend to be inflation-proof, being a percentage rather than a specific sum.

  2. A specific sum (Pecuniary Legacy): A gift of a set amount of money.

  3. A specific item: This could be something valuable, such as an antique, painting, property or shares.

Once you’ve chosen the gift, leaving a legacy to TOE simply involves writing or changing your Will accordingly. It is possible to to do this yourself, but we advise using a qualified solicitor to ensure your wishes get carried out as you intend. Send your solicitor our full name, registered address and charity number (see footer), together with details of the gift you would like to include.

The process of setting up a legacy gift can be very simple and needn't involve us at all, but we value getting to know TOE's supporters. You may also have ideas and special requests you'd like to discuss. We aim to ensure people have all the help and advice they might need before making any decisions. Our staff can be reached on 01865 407 003. Any information you provide will be strictly confidential and does not involve any binding commitments.
